AVERAGE, DEGREE GRADE AND AWARDING OF HONORS

The commission that positively evaluates the thesis and discussion has up to a maximum of 8 points, which are added to the basic vote.

The basic grade with which the student appears for the degree exam is calculated as follows:

- arithmetic mean for those enrolled up to the academic year 2009/2010, calculated on the number of exams foreseen by the student's manifesto excluding eligibility.

- weighted average for those enrolled starting from the academic year. 2010/2011, calculated on the sum of the marks obtained in the individual exams, weighted by the number of credits for each exam and divided by the number of exams taken, excluding eligibility (i.e., pass/fail exams).

ATTENTION. For students enrolled in degree courses pursuant to ministerial decree 509/99 and older legal system (V.O., Vecchio Ordinamento), all exams taken in excess are counted towards the average; on the contrary, for students enrolled in degree courses dm 270/04, further exams taken in excess of those foreseen in the manifesto are certified in the student's career, but are not counted for the purposes of calculating the average. Honors do not contribute to determining the average.

The average obtained, with two decimals and without rounding, is multiplied by 11 and divided by 3; the value obtained is the basic grade to which the score assigned by the degree commission can be added.

The awarding of honors recognizes the particular quality of the thesis presented, regardless of the average and the number of honors present in the curriculum. Honors are awarded only if the exam score added to the average is at least 110 and if the entire commission agrees.

Furthermore, based on the criteria approved by the CAD (Didactic Area Counsil), the recognition for the L-24 degree class of an extra point on the degree mark, expressed in 110, is established for students who will have achieved at least 18 cfu abroad in the degree course of enrolment.

Similarly, based on the criteria established by the board of 20/02/2024, recognition is established for the degree classes l-19, l-39, lm-51, lm-55, lm-85, lm-85bis one point more on the degree mark, expressed in 110, for students who will have achieved at least 12 cfu abroad in the degree course of enrolment.

ATTENTION. The proclamation of the degree is a moment of celebration for the students and their families, but it is necessary that on the occasion of the celebrations that follow the awarding of the degree, the new graduates, their friends and family members maintain a behavior appropriate to the dignity and decorum of the university institution, avoiding damage and not causing disturbance to colleagues who study or follow lessons inside the building.
