The undergraduate and postgraduate courses envisage different forms of access. According to the current regulations, there are:
a) Courses with admission tests and limited enrolment to assess candidates’ knowledge without any limits on the number of students to enroll. To matriculate in these courses, the student must undergo a test according to the procedures envisaged in the competition notice and complete the matriculation procedures according to the terms established in the said notice, regardless of the candidates’ performance ranking. Based on the test result, the students may be required to fulfill further educational obligations according to the regulations established by the Faculty.
b) Courses with a limited number of enrolments.
The limit is established in the competition notice in relation to every course. To matriculate in courses envisaging a limited access, candidates must obtain a ranking in the test results that is within the number of places available. The candidates must participate in the test according to the procedures envisaged in the competition notice and complete the matriculation procedures according to the terms established in the said notice.
c) Postgraduate two-year master’s degree courses with prior assessment of candidates’ knowledge and other requirements: students wishing to do these courses must undergo a preliminary test to assess all the academic requirements according to the dispositions established in the second section of the University Education Regulations.
Post-graduate master's courses (first and second level)
First and second level master’s courses are managed by the university in cooperation with the working and professional world. The courses are geared to scientific specialization and continuous higher education. The masters are specifically designed for university graduates and for professionals wishing to update and reskill.
Specialization courses
These are postgraduate courses which provide knowledge and skills required by specific professions. They enable postgraduates to obtain qualifications for these professions.
PhD
A PhD is the highest level of academic education. Students can start a PhD after a postgraduate degree. It envisages a three-year program. Access is based on the candidate’s qualifications and a competitive examination. Only a small number of places are available. The title of PhD is obtained at the end of the course.
Higher Training Courses
In cooperation with public and private bodies, in accordance with the Academic Rules (art. 2, par. 10), the university offers professional (in-service or initial) training courses with different access requirements. These courses are shorter than the master’s courses. Training Courses The training courses are geared to culture promotion and professional updating (continuing education courses, cultural activities, training for public open competitions and professional examinations, refresher courses for Sapienza personnel).
